Former PointsBet SVP of content launches media consultancy business

Liam Roecklein unveils Relentless Digital Media following departure from operator after sale of US operations to Fanatics

Former PointsBet SVP of content Liam Roecklein has launched his own media consultancy firm, Relentless Digital Media.

Roecklein spent more than two years with PointsBet’s US division after being drafted in as SVP of content in December 2021.

He joined the operator from Cheddar News where he spent more than five years across a series of roles, culminating in his position as SVP and GM.

During his time with PointsBet, Roecklein built out the content division, which included launching five sports betting shows, an email partnership with Front Office Sports and a relationship with NBC Sports.

He was also responsible for overseeing PointsBet’s content, creative, communications, commercial and talent teams.

Roecklein confirmed that following the sale of PointsBet US to Fanatics Betting and Gaming in a $225m deal, he has departed the business.

Reflecting on his time with PointsBet, Roecklein said: “A little over two years ago I was given the opportunity to join PointsBet and operate a new content division. It was a pivot from growing Cheddar from its infancy, but I believed, and still believe today, that the future of sports media is fantasy and gambling.

“Thanks to [US CEO] Johnny Aitken and [group CEO] Sam Swanell’s guidance, we were able to expand the content team and build a studio in a lower Manhattan WeWork office.”

Looking to the future with his new Relentless Digital Media (RDM) venture, Roecklein added: “As for what’s next, I’m helping companies as a startup and media consultant under a new entity titled Relentless Digital Media.

“RDM will assist businesses in areas that are more important than ever: organic content and marketing, audience and subscriber growth and increasing revenues. Here’s to the next chapter.”
