Optimove iGaming Pulse November 2023: US sports bettors’ deposit patterns shift

In our October report we highlighted a notable trend in the US, where 0% of players placed sports bets ranging from $0 to $5.30 on an average single bet, a stark deviation from the global average of 33%.
Now, we turn our focus to understanding how this behaviour influences bettor activity levels, specifically examining the frequency of deposits made in a month.
Globally, sports bettors are making an average of 10.7 deposits, surpassing the US average of 10.3. Notably, the US has seen a consistent upward trend since September, a trajectory expected to continue at least until the Super Bowl.
Meanwhile, Austria has emerged to hold the global lead in sports deposits. Austrian bettors placed an average monthly 18.6 deposits in November, having peaked at 23.9 during 2023. Turkey follows with 17.6, Croatia at 15.2 and Canada at 12.7.
The US reached its peak at just 12.3 in July 2023, which aligns with the excitement surrounding the Women’s World Cup over the summer.
In this intricate betting ecosystem, every aspect is interconnected. Depositing higher sums results in below-average activity patterns, while smaller sums afford more flexibility for frequent deposits.
