Sportradar has named former Discovery exec Craig Felenstein as the group’s new CFO following a structural reorganisation at the start of the year.

As part of the reshuffle, the supplier confirmed Gerard Griffin would step down as the firm’s finance chief by 31 May, or until a permanent successor was found.

Griffin originally joined Sportradar in May 2023 after having previously spent time with Electronic Arts and Zynga across a series of finance roles.

Felenstein will officially join the business on 1 Juneonce he departs cruise and adventure travel company, Lindblad Expeditions.

Felenstein has served as CFO of Lindbald since September 2016 when he joined from Shutterstock.

At Shutterstock, he served as SVP of investor relations and strategic finance, moving to the firm in March 2015 after almost seven years with Discovery.

Felenstein’s stint with Discovery saw him rise the ranks from SVP of investor relations to eventually become EVP of investor relations and CFO of digital in December 2012.

Upon joining Sportradar, Felenstein will form part of the company’s executive leadership team and will report into CEO Carsten Koerl.

The January reshuffle also saw the supplier’s chief strategy officer Ulrich Harmuth confirm his departure, as the New York-listed firm set out six distinct business functions.

Chief people officer Severine Riviere-Gerstner will lead on HR functions while chief legal officer Lynn McCreary has oversight of legal, risk and admin services.

Former chief product officer Warren Murphy was handed a new title, chief delivery and operations manager, and CCO Nick Maywald swapped to chief growth and innovation officer.

COO Eduard Blonk is the final member of the group’s senior leadership team.

Speaking on his decision to join Sportradar, Felenstein said: “Sportradar has built an impressive leadership position in the rapidly growing global sports technology market and is ideally situated to deliver sustained growth given its strong content portfolio, unmatched product offerings and commitment to industry innovation.

“I am excited to work with Carsten and the entire Sportradar team, as well as the board of directors, to capitalise on the significant growth opportunities ahead and deliver additional value to our clients, partners and shareholders.”

CEO Koerl added: “With Craig’s deep international experience and successful track record building finance organisations as a CFO at US listed public companies, I am confident he will be a strong addition to our team.

“His track record of helping drive financial strategy and building shareholder value will be instrumental to our continued success. We want to express our deep gratitude to Ger Griffin for his meaningful contributions to Sportradar during a transformational growth period for our company.”
