Thomas Carvalhes leaves Brazilian operator after first joining firm in 2022 as he hints at “highly engaging projects and prospects” in the future

Thomas Carvalhes has resigned as managing director of VaiDeBob after two years with the firm.

Carvalhes leaves the Brazilian firm having joined as MD in June 2022 where he was responsible for the brand strategy and entire P&L for the business.

Prior to becoming VaiDeBob MD, Carvalhes spent just under two years with Hero Gaming having initially joined the operator in September 2020 as Brazil and Latam manager.

Then, in June 2021, he was named regional director for Brazil and Latin America, a position he held until he joined VaideBob.

Carvalhes’ experience of heading up Latam-facing operations for European brands also includes a 14-month spell with LeoVegas as the firm’s country manager for Brazil and Latam.

He has also held several consultancy roles for operators looking to make a mark in Brazil, and also spent time with BetMotion in Mexico.

Announcing the decision to leave the Brazilian operator, Carvalhes said: “All good things come to an end. It is with a heavy heart that I hereby wish to communicate my decision to resign from my managing director position at VaiDeBob.

“An incredible company, with even more incredible people, to which I am only thankful.

“On the other hand, new, exciting and highly engaging projects and prospects are on the horizon, so do watch this space,” he added.

Carvalhes spoke to EGR last year to discuss Brazil’s potential as a regulated market, among a host of other experts.

Brazil is in the final stretches of regulating sports betting and online casino after President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva rubberstamped the legislation in December.
