The Netherlands Lottery confirms CEO succession plan

CFO Arjan Blok to step up to top job in September 2024 as current CEO Niels Onkenhout completes his current term

The Netherlands Lottery has announced current chief financial officer Arjan Blok will step up to become CEO of the business.

Blok, who has served as CFO since November 2016, will replace incumbent CEO Niels Onkenhout.

Blok will assume the role of CEO on 1 September 2024 following the conclusion of Onkenhout’s current term.

The Netherlands Lottery confirmed a new CFO would be recruited to fill the space left by Blok when he steps up to the top job.

Alexander Pechtold, the Netherlands Lottery chair, said: “On behalf of the supervisory board, I would first like to express my sincere appreciation for the board of the Dutch Lottery, with Niels Onkenhout as CEO and Arjan Blok as CFO.

“Over the past seven years, they have helped develop the Dutch Lottery into a healthy home for strong gaming brands, where the interests of the player always come first through a distinctive responsible gaming policy and a growing contribution back to society.

“In discussions about a successor to Niels, given the approaching end of his last term, Arjan emerged as the ideal candidate,” he added.

The Netherlands Lottery was established in 2016 following the merger of De Lotto and De Nederlandse Staatsloterij.

The operator runs the TOTO brand in the online Dutch market, including TOTO Sports, TOTO Casino and Winn Itt.
